There is so much to do in the areas surrounding Troop475, it's possible to earn all your badges for trail adventures, hiking, paddling, outdoor art exploration, and more. The people of Western North Carolina are so friendly, you'll for sure get that friendship badge on day one! Below you'll find our recommendations for what do to, see, eat, and drink during your stay.

Attractions & Activities


Tubing
Just a 25-minute drive to Bryson City, there are several places to rent a tube to take down Deep Creek. Navigate to Deep Creek Falls and Trail, rent a tube for between $5-$11 for the day, and have fun! For a longer adventure, go to Bryson City River Tubing and they’ll take you by shuttle to tube on the river.
Rafting & Kayaking
Visit Dillsboro River Company just 10 minutes from the cabin to enjoy more adventurous aquatic activities.

Fly Fishing
Western North Carolina is famous for trout fishing. There are fishing tours available. Several spots around town, like Hooker's Fly Shop, offer fly fishing expeditions for a great time on the river.


Shopping
Both Sylva and nearby Dillsboro boast dozens of adorable shops with handmade wares. Some of our favorites are The Fox's Burrow, Dixie & Co, Underground Sylva, Snake Song, Dogwood Crafters, City Lights Bookstore and Black Balsam Outdoors.

Museums
Museum of the House Cat - thousands of cat-related items on display and 3 resident cats greet all visitors. $10 fee to enter, $5 of which goes to support local spay and neuter clinics.

Jackson County Library - the jewel of downtown Sylva - you can even see the cabin from the top-of-the-hill view

Parks
Bridge Park - During the summer, there are free concerts in the park. Year-round, there is a farmer’s market on Saturday mornings with local food and handmade items.
Jackson County Green Energy Park - You can see glass blowing demonstrations and even take a class!

Eat, Drink & Purchase Provisions
Eat
Incredible Thai food in a relaxed atmosphere. Closed on Mondays, no reservations. You will not regret going here!
The superior choice for chocolate in the mountains! They also have good gelato and ice cream.
Tasty takeout food connected to Innovation Brewery in Sylva. A great place to get a bite and have a pint right on the water.
Delicious bar-b-que, great sides, and friendly staff.
Great little diner for breakfast or lunch. They even have vegan options!
Great Italian spot for a date night or a fancier girls' night out. There is a wine bar attached as well.

Good coffee and breakfast sandwiches to stay or to go. In the evenings, great drinks and open-mic performances.
The beer is great and there are rotating food trucks as well as frequent live music, drag shows, and more! Locations in downtown Sylva and Dillsboro.
